728 Cadets Marching Arts

2024 - 728 Cadets Marching Band Registration

Welcome

Welcome to the 728 Cadets Summer Marching Arts Registration!

This registration session will collect your contact information, let you sign up for participation, and submit payment. Please read through each page carefully so that information unique to the season is clear. To complete registration through our secure site, please have your Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or checking account information available.  Following the completion of this registration, you will see a charge on your account from 728 Cadets.

The cost to produce the 728 Cadets season far exceeds the membership dues we collect.  Only through fundraising and generous donations are we able to keep the cost down for each student without sacrificing the experience they receive.

Your membership dues along with fundraising and donations provide your students with a high quality education and experience that includes:

Experienced staff dedicated to improving students' music and performance skills while inspiring them to compete at a national level

  • Top quality equipment for every member
  • Custom uniforms relating to the creative concept of the show
  • Transportation to and from competitions
  • Coach buses to select competitions events
  • Most expenses related to trips for travel seasons

SUMMER MARCHING PROGRAM

Our summer street marching program is made up of wind and percussion instruments, color guard, and honor guard. Rehearsals are held at an ISD 728 school, starting in April, with performances Memorial Day weekend through the end of July. Please check the band app for the schedule. During the beginning of the season, students work on marching, performance and music technique. As skills develop, students move onto learning the season’s show music and movement, and how to execute them together. Then once school is out,  Band Camp week allows them to bring all parts of the show together and work collectively on preparing for competition.

The Cadets will attend the biggest competitions of the season –  Harry Wenger Marching Band Festival, Lake Waconia Band Festival, and Vikingland Band Festival – along with other judged community parades. This time of year is exciting as students and staff strive to improve the performance each outing. The 728 Cadets Marching Band has won numerous awards throughout the state, including Grand Champion honors at these major band festivals.

Uniforms

Uniforms with the exception of shoes will be provided to all of the 728 Cadets. The Hornline, Drumline and Honor guard will be wearing a black uniform vest, over a bib pant and a shako hat.  The uniforms and hats are kept on the trailer and students change into them on parade days.  Under armor (thin moisture wicking long sleeve shirt) is provided to every student and is worn under the uniform and should be washed after each use.  On parade days, every student should come wearing their under armor. There will be a few times during the season where we ask students to take uniforms home and wash them. At the end of the season, all uniforms must be returned.

The Color guard will be provided special uniforms and may be kept after the season is over. Washing and care instructions will be provided at the beginning of the season.

Travel Year

This season, the 728 Cadets Marching Band will be marching at the National Cherry Festival in Traverse City Michigan! We will be leaving on July 3rd and marching in the 4th of July parade and marching in another parade on July 6th. The students will be riding a bus to Traverse City and we have many fun activities planned for them in addition to marching in the parades. To keep costs low, we will be staying at the Traverse City High School, and sleeping in the gym. The students should bring air mattresses, pillows, and their sleeping bags. We will discuss more details regarding the trip during the parent information meetings, so watch the band app for announcements!

Volunteering

Volunteering is very important for helping this organization be successful. For example: every parade we need volunteers to help with providing water to the students and for crowd control. We use an application named "dibs" for signing up for volunteer positions. To sign up and volunteer you may access the dibs site via this link: https://www.728cadets.org/dib_sessions
